Work is life even if life is not only work

We spend an enormous amount of time on work. It's not only the time we spend at the office, it is all the time we think about it as well. Since we dedicate so much time and effort, we might as well make the experience a happy one. After all, work is life, even if life is not only work.

Mark Twain said - "Whoever is happy will make others happy, too". One of the responsibilities of a manager is to allow employees to be happy, creative and productive. I think that mental well-being is emerging as an important competitive edge, for what is the logic in recruiting extraordinary talent, if they are not allowed to perform, if work makes them sad and depressed. What are your thoughts?

This week the UN meet regarding the MDG:s (Millennium Development Goals), there is a lot to learn regarding goal statement and leadership, which of the eight goals do you feel strongest about?

  1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger.

  2. Achieve universal primary education.

  3. Promote gender equality and empower women.

  4. Reduce child mortality.

  5. Improve maternal health.

  6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.

  7. Ensure environmental sustainability.

  8. Global partnership for development.
